Our Children
Our Responsibility

Children are not only our legacy but they are also our future leaders and community builders. For this reason, the State Government has always been at the forefront in supporting efforts and initiatives dedicated towards children, their safety and protection. The following statistics only serve to prove that we need to act fast and decisively against this issue:

ONLY 30% of adults would believe a child if they disclosed sexual abuse.

453 paedophiles were collectively responsible for the molestation of over 67,000 children, averaging 148 children per individual.

As depressing or shocking as these statistics may sound, we have to confront them. The victims are out there. And many of them are unable to protect themselves - they need our help.

The First Step - Understanding the Issue

We can only stop or take action against something we know. Likewise children can only protect themselves from threats they can understand. That is why education is the key and as adults, it is our responsibility to take the first step to address this “difficult” issue.

If you are wondering about when or where to
begin, the answer is right now, right here - with
Body Safety Education.

Community Initiative

Let’s Unite to Protect Our Children

In line with the Penang State Government’s commitment to protect and promote the wellbeing of children, the Body Safety Education initiative was created with the goal to stop and prevent child sexual abuse through open sharing of information and Body Safety Education.

The initiative aims to accomplish its objectives by first raising awareness, followed by providing detailed plans of action should one encounter a suspected child sexual abuse case. An e-book with full details regarding the initiative can be downloaded free from this website. Moving forward, the Penang State Government is set to further expand the initiative to include more programs such as forums as well as other community events.

Together, let us unite against child sexual abuse.
